Are you a writer living in Moyne Shire with a story you’re longing to develop?
​
We’re offering a writing fellowship for a local wordsmith who would benefit from time, guidance and encouragement to take their practice to the next stage. This opportunity is open to writers at any stage of their career, whether emerging, professional or anything in between, and working in any form (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, memoir, etc).
​
The PFLW Writers Fellowship will include:

One-on-one mentorship over a six-month period with an experienced writer or writers suited to your medium.

Dedicated time to focus on your writing, with 2x one-week blocks of fully self-contained accomodation in or near Port Fairy.

An appearance in this year’s Port Fairy Literary Weekend (11-13 September 2026).
We’re especially keen to hear from writers who may not otherwise have access to mentorship opportunities.

Eligibility
-
You must live in Moyne Shire and be over 18 years of age.

You have an active writing project or clear intention to begin one.
​
How to apply
Please submit:
- a short statement about what this fellowship would mean to you and your writing;
- a short statement about what you’re working on (or hoping to work on);
- and the first five pages of the project (or a sample of your writing from any project).

Terms and Conditions

Please allow up to five business days for a response to your application.

Copyright of the work developed remains with the writer at all times.

After an initial mentor meeting, either the mentor or mentee can discontinue the process.

Mentoring time must be used by September 2026.

Mentors are not required to read an entire manuscript, edit the manuscript, or approach publishers or agents on the applicant's behalf.

Any further contact or mentoring between author and mentor must be arranged through the PFLW.

The Port Fairy Literary Weekend reserves the right to decline mentorships at its sole discretion without further correspondence.

Accomodation of two one-week blocks will be made in negotiation with the successful applicant, depending on his/her requirements, but must be used by September 2026.​​
